Music events pass off peacefully

Police in Cheshire and Merseyside have praised revellers after two huge music events passed off relatively trouble free.

Nearly 500,000 people travelled to the region for music festivals over the bank holiday weekend and police say there were only a handful of arrests.

Police say 71 people were arrested at the Mathew Street festival on Merseyside and Creamfields in Cheshire.

They were mainly for drugs and drunk and disorderly offences.
