Merseyside Police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a 17 year old woman was found in undergrowth at the Observatory at Bidston Hill.

17-year-old Hannah Windsor of Birkenhead was found on Saturday morning - she died from multiple injuries.

Officers discovered the body at about 5.30pm following a phone call from a concerned member of the public.

Crime Scene Investigators are in attendance at the scene and officers are appealing to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously on Bidston Hill over the last few days to come forward.

An 18 year old man from Moreton has been arrested and is currently being questioned by police.

Detective Inspector Mark Tivendale, said:

'I would appeal to anyone who has any information which could help us with our inquiries to come forward and tell us. Hannah was first reported missing to police on Friday, 18 May 2012, at 2.25pm and we understand that she was last seen on Wednesday afternoon.

'I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone who may have seen her since Wednesday to come forward as their information will help us to build up a picture of what happened to Hannah.

'We believe that Hannah knew the offender and we are appealing to anyone who may have been on Bidston Hill near to the observatory and saw anyone acting suspiciously to contact us.
