Terminal 1 re-opens at Manchester Airport

Terminal 1 at Manchester Airport has been re-opened after it was evacuated shortly before 9 this morning.

Passengers are being allowed back into Terminal One at Manchester Airport after it was evacuated when a "suspicious bag" was found by police.

Around 20 flights have been delayed with around 1200 passengers affected.

A Manchester Airport spokesperson said:

"At 8.50am today, Terminal 1 at Manchester Airport was evacuated while a suspicious bag was investigated at the main security search area by Greater Manchester Police."

"An evacuation is a standard precautionary measure while the investigation is completed to ensure the safety of our passengers and staff."

"We would like to thank all our passengers and staff for their patience during this disruption."
