Arrest Over Missing Leeds Woman

A man's arrested on suspicion of murdering Gemma Simpson who vanished in 2000.

23 year old Gemma Simpson went missing from her home in Harehills in 2000 - she'd told a friend she was catching a bus to Huddersfield.


A 44 year old's been arrested on suspicion of murder in Scarborough.

Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Taylor, from West Yorkshire Police Protective Services (Crime), said: "A 44-year-old man was arrested in Scarborough on suspicion of the murder of Gemma Simpson who went missing in Leeds in May 2000.

"An address in Scarborough is currently being examined as part of the investigation and the man remains in custody while our enquiries continue.

"We have notified Gemma's family and will be keeping them informed of any developments."
