A dog joined commuters on a train from Newmarket this morning.

Heart has been told the canine got on, alone, and jumped off at Cambridge station.

Passengers took to Twitter, saying: "A dog with no owner has hopped on at Newmarket, I think he's coming all the way to Cambridge with us."

Commuters said the train's coductor was made aware of the pet onboard.

It was picked up by a local dog warden in Cambridge.

The owner has since been traced and the pair were due to be reunited this morning.
