The body of a man has been found in water in Spalding.

Police were called to an area of Vernatt's Drain, near the Pinchbeck Road bridge, shortly after 2pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday), after a dogwalker spotted a body in the water.

Lincolnshire Police's Underwater Search Unit attended and the body of a man has been recovered from the waterway. A post mortem examination will take place tomorrow and the man's death is currently being treated as unexplained while enquiries continue.

DI Suzanne Davies said: "A scene guard is in place, limiting public access to the area, and further work at the location will continue in daylight hours. I am appealing to any dogwalkers, or members of the public who have walked the footpath adjacent to the drain recently, and who may have information, to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 210 of 25th January".
