A teacher has resigned after putting tape over a pupil's mouth to keep the child quiet - at a primary school in Cambridgeshire.
The supply teacher at Fowlmere Primary is said to have used the sticky tape on the nine-year-old ``as a joke'' during a lesson.
The school has apologised to parents after carrying out an investigation.
In a statement issued through Cambridgeshire County Council, a school spokesman said: ``A full investigation has taken place and the supply teacher spoken to.
``Although there was no ill intent or unkindness intended, it is clear this incident should not have happened and the member of staff has resigned from their post.
``We have spoken to the child's parents and apologised as this fell below the standards we expect.''
In March, Priscilla Davo Ortega was suspended from Danesfield School in Williton, Somerset, following an incident on March 3.
Parents claimed Miss Ortega placed tape on year six pupils as they were being too noisy in class.
One 10-year-old pupil told her father her lips bled after the tape was removed.
