Three people have been arrested after a schoolboy on his way to an exam in Milton Keynes was assaulted.

Police were called to near to St Paul's Catholic School in Phoenix Drive at around 12:30pm today.

There were reports of 'an altercation'.

A boy has since been taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A statement from the school's Headteacher, Michael Manley, reads: "An incident occurred this afternoon where a pupil who was coming into school for an examination was assaulted on the redway by Phoenix Drive.

The person who assaulted him was not connected to the school.

Staff from the school went out quickly to care for the student and the police and ambulance services arrived promptly.

The student was taken to Milton Keynes Hospital and is in a stable condition.

We have been reassured that there is no wider threat to other pupils or staff in the school.

However, there will be a police presence in the area at the end of the day to reassure pupils, parents and staff."
