Man Attacked At Cashpoint

A man who had just taken a sum of cash out from the cashpoint machine in Hitchin was punched to the ground and robbed of the money .

It happened in the early hours of Friday (Dec 24) in Redhill Road, Hitchin at around 3.55am.

The 51-year-old victim had just got the money from the cashpoint at Redhill Road shops and was walking towards Westmill Road when he was approached from behind by a stranger

The man then punched the victim and stole his wallet, containing the his driving licence, and the cash he had just withdrawn.

The victim sustained slight injuries to his nose. The suspect is described as a white man, 5ft 5in tall of slim build and was wearing a light coloured ski hat (with tassels that hung down either side) and a light coloured hooded jumper. He spoke with a local accent.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
