Herts Police Officer Charged With Rape

A serving Hertfordshire police officer has been charged today (Friday December 12) with misconduct in public office, rape, making and possession of indecent images of a child and the making and possession of a film featuring indecent images.

PC Leigh Brightman, 36, who lives in North Herts, was arrested in August and was suspended pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.

He has been bailed to appear at Luton Magistrates Court on January 5, 2015.

The IPCC has also been informed and there has been liaison throughout.

During his service PC Brightman has been based at Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Rickmansworth and Hitchin.
