A man has been arrested after a car drove the wrong way down the A1M in Hertfordshire and then crashed with a police car.
Officers were called to the road at 1:42am yesterday (7 Aug) after receiving a number of calls from members of the public.
The car had joined at junction 7 northbound near Stevenage, and travelled around 7.5 miles on the southbound carriageway.
Police put a block in place at junction 4 in Hatfield, causing the vehicle to come to a halt at around 1:51am. It then collided with a police car.
The 26 year old from Southampton was removed from the car and has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence.
He's been released on police bail until 28th August.
The road remained closed until 2:42am.
