Detectives in Luton are appealing for witnesses to come forward after receiving a report of an aggravated burglary on Saturday night.
The incident happened at 9.50pm when a 29 year old resident answered a knock at the front door of his Saywell Road home.
A young man asked the resident if he could speak with a girl and when the victim told him there was no one at the address by the name quoted a second man appeared holding a hand gun.
The victim managed to close the door but the offenders kicked the door with such force the centre panel broke and they gained entry.
The victim escaped from the property via the back door and ran towards the busy Crawley Green Road area from where he raised the alarm.
When officers arrived at the property the victim’s iPhone 4, keys and his silver Vauxhall Astra, registration number KA07 AAX, had been taken.
Detective Constable Emma Morgan, investigating, would urge anyone who saw the victim running from the scene or anyone who may have seen the missing Astra car recently.
DC Morgan said: “We believe there was a group of approximately five young men in the area at the time of the offence and these people could hold vital information that may help this investigation. We also believe the victim was chased along the road and other pedestrians or motorists may have seen this happening and I would urge these people to come forward and help this investigation.”
She added: “The silver Vauxhall Astra remains outstanding– this car could have been abandoned on a road or in a car park so I would ask residents to keep an eye open for this vehicle and I would urge members of the public to report any sightings to the police.”
The first offender is described as a white teenager, approximately 14 years old, 5’5” tall, wearing a light coloured hooded top. The second offender is described as a white man, approximately 17 years old, wearing a black hooded top.
