He was taken into custody on Saturday, two days after flames broke out in a new clubhouse at the ground in St Leonard's Road, Deal.

At its height, 30 firefighters were trying to bring it flames under control. The clubhouse, which was empty at the time, has been completely destroyed, with damaged also caused to the adjacent stands, pitch-side hoardings, floodlights and the pitch itself.

The club says it has been left devastated by the fire, and is putting together a fundraising campaign to start the restoration process as soon as possible.

The 17 year old arrested, has been questioned and released on bail until 11 November 2011, pending further investigation.

Police are continuing to appeal for information. Officers want to speak to anyone who was in the St Leonard’s Road area of Deal last Thursday afternoon to contact Kent Police on 01622 690690 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
