Dartford Man Charged Over Police Shooting
Michael Olsen, 51, faces charges of GBH, threats to kill and possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.
An officer was shot in the hand as he tried to stop a drink-drive suspect in Welling Friday evening.
Police were called to reports of a car colliding with a number of other vehicles and then a lamppost on Westwood Lane, near the junction with Wendover Way.
When two officers stopped a man matching the description of the driver, the suspect pulled out a firearm, pointed it at the officers and then opened fire.
The two policemen were treated in hospital.
Bexley Borough Commander, Peter Ayling said: "The incident highlights the dangers that police officers can face as they go about their job.
"My officers, knowing they were faced with a man in possession of a firearm, did not shirk from their duty. They bravely confronted this man, disarmed him and arrested him - I cannot praise their courage enough.''
