Around 50 firefighters have been tackling a large fire in a field not far from the A2 at Bean.

They were called to the 40-acre field of corn in Shellbank Lane just before 3.30pm on Monday (19th July).

Because the fire covered such a large area, the Kent Police helicopter was used to give the commander a better idea of where the flames were spreading and where firefighters needed to be.

London Fire Brigade also assisted Kent Fire and Rescue by providing drinking water to crews tackling the fire.

There are no reports of any injuries and nearby houses weren't affected.

It's not known how the fire started.
