Folkestone: Murder Charge Over Car Park Attack

A man is to appear in court charged with murder of a 45-year-old who was found unconscious in a car park in Folkestone.

Tim Clayton was attacked in the car park behind Europa House in Pound Way in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Investigating officers believe the assault may have taken place at about 3.30am but he was not found until five hours later.

Mr Clayton, who lived in the Folkestone area, was taken to the Royal London Hospital where he was treated for significant head injuries, but died on Sunday.

Brian Sharp, 54, of Manor Road, Folkestone, was charged with murder last night and remanded in custody.

He will appear at Folkestone Magistrates' Court today, a police spokesman said.

A 25-year-old man, from Folkestone, who was also arrested on Sunday on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail until November 28.

Two men, aged 28 and 38, who were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of assault have been released without charge, police said.

A 44-year-old man has been bailed until December 6 pending further inquiries.
