Registration Starts for Kent Test

1 June 2010, 00:00

Parents who want their children to go to grammar school in September 2011 can now register for them to do the Kent Test.

Families have until Friday 2nd July to get their application in.

The test takes place in September 2010, a month before parents have to choose which school they would like their child to go to the following year.

KCC Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, Sarah Hohler, said: "Kent has a wide range of secondary schools. If families would like to apply for a place at a grammar school then they have the choice for their child to sit the Kent Test.

"The test is taken before they apply for their choice of secondary school. Even if parents and children are not sure whether a grammar, high school, wide ability or academy is best for them, they have nothing to lose by taking the test."

Children who go to primary schools in Kent will do the test on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th September 2010. Children from outside of the county will do the test on Saturday 18th September 2010.

We've put a link to the page of the KCC website for completing the form for the Kent Test on this page, they can also be picked up from primary schools or by calling 01622 696565
