Security Guards Attacked With Spray

Security guards have been sprayed in the face by thieves during raid on Sevenoaks shop

Kent Police is appealing for information following a robbery at the One Stop, Sevenoaks Road, Otford at 4.40pm yesterday, Thursday 30 September.

Three men approached two security guards who were making a delivery for the ATM at the shop.  The security guards were sprayed in the face with a substance which incapacitated them and allowed the men to take at least one of the cases used to transport cash.  It is thought one of the men may have been carrying a firearm. The men then ran off along a private road at the side of the shop.  Officers are making enquires to establish if the men then left the area in a vehicle.

Both the security guards were taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.  The full extent of their injuries is not yet known.  One of the guards was admitted overnight so medical staff could continue to monitor his condition.

The men were white, one was wearing a high-visibility (fluorescent) jacked and a baseball cap.

Police would like to hear from anyone witnessed what happened or who may have seen people acting suspiciously in the area prior to the robbery.  It is likely that the cash stolen will be unusable as it will have been covered in a dark coloured dye and it is possible that the dye may transfer to anyone in contact with the money.

Anyone with information about this can contact police on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their name. Information can also be emailed to appeals.westkent@kent.pnn.police.uk
