Whitstable is the least 'cloned' town in the UK where shopping is concerned in 2010

That's according to a survey out today that claims it has a wider choice of independent stores than any other town

The results have been released by the New Economics foundation.

It says 41 per cent of UK towns are 'clone towns' - with a big proportion of chain stores - a further 23 per cent are on the verge of becoming one

Whitstable scored 92.1 out of 100 on the shops diversity scale.

Lowest scoring was Cambridge, which managed just 11.6 per cent on the scale.
