Woman Injured After Lorry Crushes Car

A woman's in hospital with serious head injuries after the car she was driving was crushed when a lorry overturned at Ashford on Friday.

It happened on the exit slip of Junction 10 for the M20 just before 7am.

A man in another car managed to get out and was also taken to the William Harvey hospital with minor injuries.

Police have told Heart there are a number of road closures in place and they are likely to remain closed until at least lunchtime so the vehicles involved in the crash can be recovered and investigations carried out.

Road closure details:

  • M20 coastbound carriageway slip road at Junction 10
  • Bridge over the M20 from Bad Munstereifel Road to Kennington Road
  • Southbound carriageway of the Hythe Road from Ashford town centre from the exit slip road on the London-bound carriageway of the M20 up to the roundabout

The south section of the bridge is open from Kennington Road down to Hythe Road and traffic is able to head from Bad Munstereifel Road to the London-bound section of the M20 as normal.

People heading towards the William Harvey Hospital are advised to access if from the Kennington end.

Congestion and delays are expected and motorists are advised to try and find an alternative route if possible.
