Obscure January Days to Celebrate

To get you over the January blues, we are highlighting the more obscure days in January to celebrate!

We all know they exist, but who could tell you what day they fall on?

These are the obscure days that rear their heads every now and again, like National put-your-shoe-on-your-head day! Ok, we made that one up, but there are loads of other obscure ones out there, and now that the festive period is over, we don't want you to miss a chance to celebrate this January.

So with that in mind, we are telling you about some of the lesser-known celebrations.

Thursday 24th Peanut Butter Day

We wanted you to spread the word about this day! Here are some Peanut Butter facts

  1. There is a peanut-free peanut butter, which is for people allergic to peanuts.
  2. The fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth is called Arachibutyrophobia.
  3. One acre of peanuts will make over 30,000 peanut butter sandwiches.
  4. Peanuts aren’t actually nuts, they’re legumes (like beans)
  5. Two table spoons of peanut butter will provide more than 10% of the recommended protein allowance.
  6. Animals like peanut butter too, it’s considered an effective bait for mouse traps.
  7. Two peanut farmers have been elected president of the USA - Thomas Jefferson and Jimmy Carter.
  8. Peanut butter doesn’t contain butter. The term butter just means ‘something smooth and spreadable’

Denise Doms
- my sister (who has re-homed a beautiful ginger tom who's seemingly as clean as a whistle normally and either goes outside to the loo or uses his litter tray)would probably ask "why did you wee in my slipper last night? was it just because of the snow and do you realise I am not personally responsible for it?"
