14 Year Old Girl Arrested In Hackney

Police have arrested a 14 year old girl in Hackney, after finding a loaded weapon in her bedroom.

Officers from the Trident Gang Crime Command North East Proactive Team conducted a search warrant at a residential address in Waterloo Close, Hackney on Tuesday 19 February.

The loaded revolver was recovered from within a wardrobe in a female occupier's bedroom.

A 14-year old girl was arrested and taken to Stoke Newington Police Station, awaiting further investigation.

Detective Inspector Steve Meechan from Trident said:

"In light of the tragic events at the weekend, Officers are committed to tackling gun crime by holding to account those who chose to carry weapons and are involved in gang violence. Trident will continue its efforts to take these weapons out of circulation."
