Government Backs West Ham Bid

The Government and Mayor Boris Johnson have officially backed West Ham's bid to take over the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Games.

They were given approved bidder status ahead of Tottenham Hotspur football club, though the proposals may still be subject to a legal challenge from Leyton Orient.

Boris Johnson's told us that Spurs lost out because they were planning to demolish the athletics track.

He says he'll do all he can to help Tottenham develop White Hart lane.
