A 33-year-old British woman from Birmingham who had arrived on a flight from Doha was arrested and later charged with attempting to import a class A drug.

Sofia Badar of Woodsome Grove, Short Heath, was expected to appear before Uxbridge Magistrates on Monday 22 April.

Border Force Heathrow Director, Marc Owen, said:

"Border Force officers at Heathrow are on constant alert to prevent illegal drugs and other contraband reaching the UK.

"We believe we have prevented a sizeable quantity of a very dangerous drug making it onto the streets.

"Those who engage in drug smuggling should be in no doubt that they will be targeted and brought to justice."
