Police are investigating the death of a man found collapsed in the road in east London, just 90 minutes after a woman was murdered one street away.
Scotland Yard said the victims, both aged in their 20s, were known to each other.
The woman had been stabbed repeatedly in Valentines Road, Ilford with police called to the scene at 5.30pm on Friday 31 October 2014. She was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
Shortly after 7pm officers were called to nearby Auckland Road where a man was found lying in the street. He died soon after arriving at the hospital, the Metropolitan police said.
In a statement police said: "Both deaths are being investigated by officers from the Homicide & Major Crime Command based at Barking.
"The death of the woman, who had suffered multiple stab wounds, is being treated as murder.
"At this early stage, there is no evidence to suggest that the death of the man is suspicious.
"Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances."
Police added that the bodies have not yet been formally identified and post-mortems are due to take place.
