Man Dies In Battersea Shooting

A 21-year-old man has died in hospital after being shot in a street in south-west London.

Metropolitan Police were called to Tennyson Street in Battersea at 11.30pm yesterday (Thursday August 11) following reports of gunfire.

The victim was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound and paramedics rushed to him to a central London hospital where he died in the early hours of this morning.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Officers believe they know the identity of the deceased but await formal identification. Next of kin have been informed.

"A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

"Police retain an open mind as to any motive, and there has been no arrest at this very early stage."
