A teenager's been charged with robbery after an attempted smash-and-grab at a Central London jewellery shop.
Kaneen Gopaul, 18, from Islington, north London, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 12 March 2014 accused of robbery and handling stolen goods.
He was charged after a gang rode up to H Stain jewellers in Victoria Street, central London, on motorbikes just before 1pm on Tuesday 11 March armed with hammers and axes.
A passer-by grabbed one of the riders by the hood of his top and dragged him to the ground, holding him down until police arrived.
The pedestrian, who did not want to be named, told the Daily Telegraph: "It was like watching a scene from a Guy Ritchie movie."
