A noise as loud as a jet taking off is going to be on hand for the MOD to use during the London Olympics.

We're told it'll mostly be used as a loud-hailer to get messages to any boats on the River Thames that are causing concern.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that it was among a "broad range of assets" being used by the armed forces to provide security during the Games.

The device is used by the US Army as a "sonic weapon".
