Thames Water has increased prices for water and sewerage by 5.5%, leaving households with an average bill of £354, according to the water regulator Ofwat.
The company says it still equates to less than a pound a day, and is the second lowest in the industry.
But it has admitted prices will continue to rise as it makes more improvements.
It is investing more than £1 billion per year on improvements to water pipes, sewers and other facilities.
That is around £1,000 per property between 2010 and 2015.
