Billy 'set free' in Glasgow

Comedian Billy Connolly will be honoured by his home city today.

He’ll receive the Freedom of the City in a ceremony this evening.

Messages from past recipients including Nelson Mandela, Sir Alex Ferguson and Kenny Dalglish will be read out at the ceremony at the City Chambers.

Lord Provost Bob Winter says: "Billy Connolly is arguably the world's best-known Glaswegian and is truly deserving of the Freedom of the City."
