Freddie Mercury film in the works

Queen's Brian May confirms Mercury biopic

A film on the life of legendary Queen singer Freddie Mercury is under way, guitarist Brian May has confirmed.

The film will star Sacha Baron Cohen in the role of Mercury and the script is being penned by Frost/Nixon writer Peter Morgan.

May wrote on website Queen Online ""Peter Morgan has delivered a first draft of the movie, which everyone is very excited about, and Sacha Baron Cohen is chomping at the bit to get into the role, in a way which certainly would delight Freddie!"

The film is scheduled to be released at the end of 2012.
