X Factor winner Joe McElderry says he's gay.

The 19 year old Geordie singer came out after posts on Twitter sparked rumours about his sexuality.

A hacker is believed to have got into his account.

Joe has told some of today's papers he's proud to be gay and believes he can be happy now that he's realised who he is.

The teenager won The X-Factor last Christmas with Cheryl Cole as his mentor.
