Knightley was close to give up acting

Keira Knightley has openly spoken about being close to giving up her acting career.

The star, 25, said that three years ago she seriously thought about throwing in the towel as she felt guilty about her advantaged life.
"I remember hating the idea that I was in a privileged position" said Knightley "and couldn't see the point of any of it… I had worked solidly since I was 16, till 22, and I had not been on holiday in all of that time."

However when the opportunity to work on film Never Let Me Go with good friend Carey Mulligan came up, Keira jumped at the chance and shelved her retirement plans.
