Madonna plans charity gig

The Queen of pop is said to be following in the footsteps of Bob Geldof by planning a Live Aid type of charity concert to raise money for Malawi.

Madonna has two adopted children from Malawi, Mercy, five, and David, four.

A source at her Raising Malawi charity has said: "Plans are in place to make this the biggest fund-raiser the world has ever seen."  She is calling in celeb friends to perform at the the Walk Out of Poverty concert in September which will be televised across the world.

More than 60,000 fans will get free tickets for the concert which will be taking place at a stadium in Blantyre, poverty-stricken Malawi's largest city, but it's the TV rights and merchandising that will hopefully rake in millions to benefit the charity.
