Naomi Watts talks about her role as Princess Diana

The actress says playing the People's Princess was the hardest thing she’s ever done

Watts is no stranger to tough roles, but claims her portrayal of the Princess of Wales was her toughest challenge yet.

The King Kong actress said in an interview with Manhattan Magazine that the role was especially difficult to make her own, due to 'the pressure of everyone’s beliefs about who she is'.

The role is clearly deeply meaningful to Naomi who has expressed how important playing Diana is to her.

'I don't want to get caught up in mimicry - that's the worst thing' said the actress 'I was to try to embody her and get the essence of her'. 

The film is set to be released next year.
