"La Loca" and boyfriend part ways after 11 years together
Popstar Shakira and her long-term partner, Antonio de la Rua, have split up after over a decade together.
The singer and de la Rua, who is the son of former Argentinian president Fernando de la Rua, took to Shakira's website to announce the news, admitting they haven't been together since last August.
"During our almost 11 years together we have loved each other deeply, taken care of each other and stood by one another,' the couple wrote online, 'they have been the most wonderful years of our lives, and thanks to that love and the respect that we share for one another we have been an exceptional couple and partners.'
The pair said they were hoping the split was only going to be temporary. De la Rua will continue to oversee Shakira's business affairs and career.
