A 17 year old has been arrested over a sexual assault on a 12 year old girl in Newcastle.
The boy is in police custody.
It's after the girl was walking in fields next to Pallinsburn Court, Etal Lane, on Thursday evening.
She was approached by a man who exposed himself, put his arm around her and then sexually assaulted her.
She made off from the man and reported the incident to her parents who contacted the police.
The girl was left extremely distressed but not hurt.

A 12-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted near Westerhope in Newcastle.
The girl was walking in fields next to Pallinsburn Court, Etal Lane, at 5pm this evening when she was approached by a man.
He exposed himself, put his arm around her and then sexually assaulted her.
She made off from the man and reported the incident to her parents who contacted the police.
The man is described as being in his 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall and was wearing a black hooded jacket, blue jeans and glasses.
The girl was left extremely distressed by the incident.
Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time it happened and who might have seen anything to contact them as soon as possible.
Detective Sergeant Michelle Robson, of Northumbria Police, said:
"This was a very distressing incident for the young victim and we are keen to identify the man as soon as possible.
He left the scene headed in the direction of Blakelaw and we are carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and checking CCTV locally.
We have officers carrying out extra patrols in the area and speaking to local residents.
Anyone who thinks they know who this man is or anyone with any information that could help us is asked to contact us as soon as possible."
