Toddler In Newcastle Pond Death Tragedy Named

A three year old boy who died after drowning in a garden pond in Newcastle's West End is named as Callum Greenwood
Police were called at 6.47pm last night (Thursday 25th September) after a report that three-year-old Callum had been playing in a relative's garden in Elswick Road in the west end was missing.
He was found in the pond of same the address around ten minutes later.
Callum was taken to the RVI hospital in Newcastle where he was pronounced dead.
Enquiries are being carried out and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Northumbria Police Superintendent Mick Paterson said:
"This is an incredibly tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time. They are understandably absolutely devastated and officers with specialist training are providing them with support."
