Extra Funding For North East Potholes
The government is stumping up more than 40 million to local authorities in our region
Tyne and Wear and Northumberland will get the most at nearly 10 million pounds.
Across the country 170 million pounds worth of funding has been handed out to councils.
It's estimated the money will help fill in 3 million potholes on our roads.
It's part of a move that was previously announced by the Chancellor in the budget.
Local authorities had to apply to get a piece of the funding - with the final totals now being made public.
Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin said: ``Potholes are the bane of all our lives and the funding announced today is an important step in ridding our roads of this menace.
