A man, who was knocked down by a taxi in Newcastle, has died in hospital.
It happened at 2.30am on Sunday, August 31st, on the northbound slip-road from Swan House roundabout to New Bridge Street on the Central Motorway in the city centre, next to to Plumber Court.
For reasons yet to be established, a taxi collided with a pedestrian in the road.
The pedestrian, a man aged 26, was taken to the RVI hospital where he subsequently died this morning.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area and who witnessed the collision, or who has information about it, to contact them on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 240 31/08/14.

A man's in a critical condition in hospital after he was hit by a taxi in Newcastle.
It happened at 2.30am on Sunday, August 31st, on the northbound sliproad from Swan House roundabout to New Bridge Street on the Central Motorway in the city centre, next to Plumber Court.
The taxi hit a pedestrian in the road.
The man aged 26, was taken to the RVI hospital for treatment where he is in a critical condition.
