This week will be one of the busiest of the year for people heading on holiday from the North East.
Spain is the number one destination for people heading abroad this sumemr.
Travel organisation Abta also say bookings to Greece and Turkey have been going well, while for those travelling further afield Dubai, Mexico and Florida are among the most popular destinations.
Graeme Mason, Head of Planning and Corporate affairs at Newcastle International Airport has told Heart it's one of the busiest weeks of the year for them,
"Just under a million people will travel to and from Newcastle Airport over the summer.
That's about 2-3% up on last year, so the numbers are very positive.
The Airport is very busy. We're handling, on average 17,500 people every day."
For those holidaying in Britain, the most popular places to visit are the south-west of England, the south coast and Wales.
If you're staying in the UK, there's a warning this Friday's likely to be the busiest on the roads.
Transport information company Inrix reckons hour-long journeys could take up to half an hour more, with people expected to drive an average of 1,082 miles each during the 6 week holiday.
