Sunderland Brothers Sentenced To Life For Murder

Sunderland brothers Jack and Jess Ryan have been sentenced to life in prison for murdering dad of two George Dagg.

25 year old Jess Ryan stabbed the 53-year-old to death outside his Plains Farm home in Sunderland in June.

The knifeman had taken his 22-year-old brother Jack Ryan with him as armed back up.

Judge Paul Sloan  QC said the attack on the dad-of-two was "cowardly".

Jess Ryan, of Toronto Road in the city,  must serve a minimum of 25 years before he can even apply for parole.

Jack Ryan, of nearby Toronto Square, must serve a minimum of 21 years.

The siblings showed no emotion as they were led away to start their life terms.

Two people have been charged with murder after a man died from stab wounds to his leg in Plains Farm.

The 53 year old victim was found with serious injuries on Purley Road on the 2nd of June 2014.

He later died in hospital.

21 year old Jack Ryan, and Jess Ryan, 24, both formerly of Toronto Road in Sunderland, have been charged with murder and will appear at Sunderland Magistrates' Court this morning.
