Celebrities turn to food

Jam, sausages, cookery books and TV show. Have celebrities gone food crazy?

The good life

Kate Moss has just started making her own damson jam, thanks to the fruit being abundant on her estate in the Cotswolds. The 36-year-old is one of the many celebrities who has turned to food as a career option, after years of glitz and glamour.

Fellow model Sophie Dahl has always been passionate about cooking and she has turned her love for anything edible into a blossoming career, starring in her own cookery programme, The Delicious Miss Dahl, and writing a recipe book, Miss Dahl's Voluptuous Delights.

Elizabeth Hurley swapped acting for the good life a few years ago and has started selling meat and snacks produced on her farm.
Prince Charles too combined a passion for the countryside and organic farming by establishing Duchy Originals in 1990. Duchy sells biscuits, jams, meats, desserts and drinks and it has proved very popular with the public.

So good with food...you forget what they did before

Lloyd Grossman is best known for his cookery programme and his successful food line, which makes sauces, breads and soups, but many forget that the Boston-born TV personality started his career as a musician and later as a journalist. Jane Asher too is thought first as a cake baker and shop owner, but she used to be an actress first.
Paul Newman
and Linda McCartney both established successful food businesses which are still available in supermarkets.

Hollywood loves food too...

Over in Hollywood quite a few celebrities have turned to food as a side career too.
Legendary director Francis Ford Coppola owns his own winery and two Italian restaurants. Robert De Niro is a partner in the upmarket Nobu restaurants venture, musician Moby co-owns Teany tea shop in New York City and Sandra Bullock has a brasserie and a bakery in Austin, Texas.
Last but not least is Gwyneth Paltrow who is launching a recipe book, My Father's Daughter, after the success of her Goop lifestyle website and her TV cookery programme with chef Mario Batali.
