Heart Gives Back
As well as being the home of More Music Variety, Heart is committed to raising money and supporting causes that matter to you.
Launched in 2009, Heart's own charity Have a Heart aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged children living in our local communities.
In the last five years the charity has granted over £1.7 million to a range of charities including;
£456,555 was granted to Starlight Children's Foundation to provide 101 Have a Heart Starlight Fun Centres to children's hospices and hospital wards across the UK. These Fun Centres contain the latest entertainment technology to provide a distraction from the stress and pain that the children are going through.
£615,269 has been granted to Children's Hospices UK (now Together for Short Lives) to improve the care and support delivered to seriously ill children and their families, in their own homes. This grant was used to fund a new vehicle for 28 hospices across the country, to enable more home visits to take place, as well as fund additional nursing hours to deliver this invaluable service.
has been granted to ChildLine
to recruit, train and support more volunteer counsellors - to ensure that when a child feels they have nowhere else to turn, ChildLine is there to answer their call.
£205,000 has enabled wish granting charities Starlight Children's Foundation, Make a Wish Foundation UK and Rays of Sunshine to grant more magical wishes for seriously ill children. Whether they want to be a soldier, a princess, a fireman, meet Mickey Mouse or meet their favourite celebrity, these three amazing charities make it happen, leaving the families with a lasting memory to treasure.
Have a Heart has raised this money through a combination of on-air appeals, overseas treks, teams in running events and through the generosity of our listeners, clients and corporate supporters.
Coming soon we'll be launching our next exciting charity campaign on Heart, so keep checking back here to find out more.
Heart is also the media partner for 182 races in the Cancer Research UK Race for Life series.
