Police are trying to trace a man after a woman was raped on Brighton beach.

The 18-year-old woman was attacked by a man she met in a nightclub but who then forced himself on her outside.

She left the Coalition nightclub with the man and they both went onto the beach between the club and the Fortune of War close to the club before he raped her.

The attack happened between 2.30am and 3.15am on 15 November and officers have been investigating a number of lines of inquiry since then to try to identify who was involved.

Despite it happening several months ago they are hopeful someone will recognise a man recorded on CCTV footage in Coalition who they would like to speak to.

He was white, about 5' 8" and in his early 20s. He was clean shaven, had short blond or brown hair and was wearing a blue t-shirt.

Detective Sergeant Mark Taylor said: "The CCTV shows a man in Coalition who we would like to speak to. We think he could have valuable information that could help us with the investigation. If anyone knows who he is or where he is I would urge them to contact us as soon as possible.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen the man in the club on the night of the attack.

"Although this happened several months ago we are still hopeful of finding someone who can help us get in touch with the man in the CCTV.

"If you know anything at all, please call us."
