TV Appeal Over Sex Attack

Detectives from Wealden District CID have appeared on Crimewatch to appeal for information in relation to the Wadhurst sexual assault.

The investigation continues into the sexual assault of a middle-aged black man who was attacked in The Marlpit. The victim had walked along Station Road from the direction of the petrol station at around 4.45pm on Friday 16 July.

Detective Inspector Rob Morland said: "The victim has been exceptionally brave throughout the investigation and hopes Crimewatch viewers will recognise these two men. I am determined as ever to bring them to justice and am appealing to anyone who might have seen or heard anything suspicion to come forward, however insignificant it might seem. You could be the witness we're looking for."

The victim had been stopped by a driver, asking for directions. The passenger of the car got out asking for a light and attacked the victim, threatening him with a knife.

The male attacker is described as white, aged 18 to 25, closely shaven on the sides of his face, with gelled spiky blonde/brown hair, drooping eyes, thin lips, roman angular nose and wearing a yellow hoodie and grey tracksuit bottoms. He has grubby hands and prominent veins on his arms.

The male driver is described as white, aged 40 to 50, with black swept back hair, chubby round face, stubble, dark short-sleeved T-shirt and has weathered arms.

Police have released two men arrested in connection with the serious sexual assault and no further action is being taken.
