250 jobs if new store gets the nod

250 new jobs could be created in the region if plans for a new supermarket get the go ahead.

Sainsbury's plan to open the store in Whitchurch alongside Terrace Hill Group PLC.

The plans for land off London Road near the Town Centre include a restaurant and a car park for 300 vehicles.

The ideas go on display at Brownlow Community Centre next Friday and Saturday.

Duncan McEwan, Development Director of Terrace Hill, said:

"We believe that the London Road site offers an important and unique opportunity to provide improved foodstore provision in Whitchurch, in a location close to the existing town centre.

"We very much look forward to displaying the plans and hearing people's views."

Michael Adenmosun, Sainsbury's Development Executive, added:

"We are very excited to confirm our plans for a new foodstore in Whitchurch.

"The proposed store will create new jobs for local people and provide the community with an improved local food-shopping offer, preventing the need for residents to travel to neighbouring towns to carry out their main shopping."
