Freezing temperatures cause disruption

There's a warning more snow could roll in on Saturday in North Wales after temperatures overnight dropped to as low as minus 10 degrees in parts of the country.

There was only slightly more snowfall overnight but it was ice causing the problems on Saturday morning.

Bus companies in Wrexham were running a full service but admitted treacherous routes could mean some disruption on minor roads.

A spokesman for GHA coaches in the town said:

"All buses are running across the region but we are experiencing some problems with ice on minor estate roads and some hilly areas."

Meanwhile an elderly woman is recovering in hospital from chest injuries after an car crash on icy roads on the Wirral.

It happened in Caldy around 14.00 on Friday.

Watch Manager Dave Balmer of West Kirby said:

"The RTC was due to the inclement weather conditions we have had today.

"Fire crews made the vehicles safe, provided first aid to the elderly woman and then removed the driver and passenger doors to create enough space for the woman to be removed from the car on a spinal board."
