More job losses in Chester

Around 500 jobs will be affected in Chester as Lloyds Banking Group cuts more positions at sites in the UK.

The company has already made 15,000 people redundant across the country.

There are 650 losses in total mainly affecting insurance and bank office staff in Chester and Nottingham but 1,850 positions will be affected across the UK.

A spokeswoman for Lloyds confirmed that 535 jobs in Chester were affected, but some positions will be redeployed to other areas of the business.

The part-nationalised group has also announced plans to close 265 independent Halifax-branded counters based within firms such as solicitors and estate agencies.

Staff in these positions are not directly employed by Lloyds.
