Two sites considered for new Theatre

The region is a step closer to getting a new theatre after council leaders in Chester put forward two potential sites for the venue.

Next week they will consider the former Odeon Cinema or land on the Little Roodee car park.

A third option at the Gorse Stacks car park will no longer be considered.

The theatre would cost between £38 and £50 million and the ideas will be considered by Cheshire West and Chester Council on Wednesday November 3rd.

Councillor Richard Short, Executive Member for Culture and Recreation said:

"We have always contended that the city desperately needed an iconic theatre to fill a major gap in its cultural offer.

"We are about to take a major step towards both achieving that dream and also to providing a major boost to the city's economic regeneration."
